DEALS, DEALS, and more DEALS.........

Just in case you are like me and need to see cold hard facts to believe something that seems to good to be true I thought I would post a few recent trips to Giant Eagle and Walgreens.

The first picture is from Giant Eagle I paid .89 cents for the (4) lysol wipes and (2) pantenes. The receipt shows $2.89 but I received a $2 off your next purchase (or catalina) at check out making it less the a dollar.

On this trip to Giant Eagle, (pic above) not only were the items free but I actually made $2.00. After coupons the total was $1.98 but I received a Catalina for $4 off my next purchase.

Last week I picked up 5 FREE Colgate Totals at Walgreens. It came to .65 cents because you have to pay for tax no matter what. But there is nothing better then FREE!!!!

Terms and Abbreviations

Here are the basic acronyms you will need to know:

BOGO – Buy One Get One Free

BOGO 1/2 off - Buy One Get One half off

OYNO -On Your Next Order (a catalina coupon that prints when you check out, that is used like cash off your next order)

WYB – When You Buy (sometimes you get a discount for buying a certain number. example: Save $1 wyb 2)
RP – Red Plum is a coupon insert you find in the Sunday Paper, or in our area it usually comes in the mail on Tuesdays with the Giant Eagle ad or online.

SS - Smart Source is also a coupon insert in the Sunday Paper or online

CAT - Catalina is the coupon that prints at the cash register. You can get catalinas buy purchasing certain items.

DND – Does Not Double.  Many coupons have this, however, if your store normally doubles then it should still double as long as the bar-code number starts with a 5.  If it starts with a 9 then it will NOT double.

IP – Internet Printable Coupon

SCR – Single Check Rebate from Rite Aid

CPN - Coupon

EXP – when the coupon expires

MFR – Manufacturer Coupon

$2/1SS 3-21 or $2/1RP 3-21 -when matching up coupons, this tells you the amount of the coupon($2/1, two dollars off one item), where the coupon was found (Smartsource or RedPlum), and which paper it was in (3-21).  If a coupon is printable, it will be highlighted in blue so you can click to print.

Giant Eagle Deals Week 12/9-12/15

Here are the deals at Giant Eagle this week. Their sales run from Thursday - Wednesday each week. I have listed only the things that are FREE to $1 in red and there are a lot.

Anything listed in blue you can click on and go directly to that website and/or print your coupons from.

If you are new to couponing then you will want to get used to all of the abbreviations that are used, I will post a list of the most common so you can better understand how to work the deals. Also keep in mind you will have to save your coupons for a few weeks to really be able to get all of the deals, since some of the coupons are from a month or two ago, unless it is a printable in which case you just need to print it : ) I will have a post tomorrow about where to get coupons.

Don't forget to register you GE (Giant Eagle) card for the eoffers. It is quick and easy and it is the only way you can "stack" coupons at GE. Also keep in mind GE doubles coupons up to $.99, meaning if you have a $.75 coupon it is worth $1.50 at GE.

Saved over $270 according to my receipts and paid a total of $23.50 before tax out of pocket for everything in this picture

Rite Aid Week of 11/28

This trip took about 15 minutes in and out of the store I did 3 transactions.  

If you completely remove the tax from the equation then I would have got all of these items for a grand total of  $2.56, but we all know you cant get away from uncle sam : (

However with the tax it still only came to $5.67 for everything you see in the picture!!!!  

The best part was the prep time for this trip was only about a half hour sine it was only a few things and the store time was about 15 min to do 3 transactions, I would say the savings here was well worth my time.......My total savings according to the receipts was $73.07, thats what Im talking about!!!!

My First Post

OK first of all let me start off by saying I am a horrible speller and I am new to blogging. Therefore expect some errors in the beginning. The purpose of this Blog is to see just how much interest there is in the North Eastern Ohio area in learning how to coupon and to save money. I promise you that I can show you how to save tons of money on everything from food, household and cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc. But before I can really show you the In's and outs I have to know how many people really want to know how to do it.

So I will post varies shopping trips with the amount spent and the amount of savings. I will have several friends post what they have been able to "steal" from their couponing experience and eventually I will show each and every person who has ever wanted to know how to "never pay retail again" just how its done.
