New Frito Lay Giveaway!!
We were contacted by Frito-Lay and asked if we would like to participate in their new 'Taste from home' recipe giveaway. When we found out that it would mean a free variety prize pack of the new Lay’s Regional Flavors potato chips for one of our readers how could we decline. They have asked me to share a family recipe, what it reminds me of, and how the recipe was created. So here it goes.
Since I do not exactly come from a family of gourmet cooks (most of what we ate came from the freezer, a box, or a jar) there was not a whole lot for me to think about. The one thing mom mother did teach me to make as a child that I still make for my family and usually bring as a side to parties is what we call "Summer Salad"! It is just a very simple pasta salad but every time I make it or bring it some where to share it always seems to be a big hit!
1 lb. Garden Rotini Noodles
1 can sliced black olives
2 bags of cubed cheese (any flavors)
1 bottle of Italian dressing
1 cup of Parmesan cheese
Cook the noodles (al dente), drain and allow to cool down. Add olives, cheese, and Italian dressing (ass as much dressing as you think is needed to taste) I usually use about 3/4 of the bottle and then add the rest the next day as the dressing will absorb into the noodles. Mix all ingredients very well then top off with the Parmesan cheese and refrigerate!
That's it! Very simple and very delicious! We call it Summer Salad because it always reminded us of summer. I can remember knowing that if mom bought the stuff for Summer Salad then that must have meant summer was on its way! Now my family has the same tradition and we always start the summer off with a cookout that must include Summer Salad!!
And what goes great at a cook out with a tasty pasta salad and burgers? All natural Chips of course!! The picture above shows you all of the new flavors Frito-Lay has come out with. Have you tried any of these? Which ones do you like the most? I have tried the Garden Tomato and Basil and I REALLY like them. I think the next two I will try are the Creamy Garden Ranch and the Honey Mustard.
