Shelf Price vs. Sale Price at Giant Eagle?!?!?!
Are you confused about shelf price vs. sale price in the GE coupon Match-ups??
When we post about catalina deals at Giant Eagle and indicate you may be able to get the catalina using shelf price that means the normal retail price of the item instead of the current sale price.
For Example:
Let's say you have to buy $15 worth of an item in order to get a $5 OYNP (off your next purchase catalina) coupon and the normal shelf price of the item is $3 but the sale price is $2.50 that week.
If the deal is working of shelf price you would only need to buy 5 items to reach the $15 mark. However if it is working off sale price then you would need to buy 6 of that item to reach the $15 mark.
It usually depends on how the registers are ringing up the item. If the register is scanning the item at normal shelf price then deducting the amount needed to get it to the sale price (in this example that it would deduct $.50 off each item) then normally the computer sees the original $3 price and is using that to calculate the $15 needed to generate the catalina coupon.
There is really no fool proof method the determine how each sale will work other than going and trying it. If you don't want to take the risk of having to bring your order to CS and return the items and add the 6th item to get your coupon then I suggest just going of the sale price.
But if we hear from a reader that a specific sale did work of shelf price we do try to post about it to save you the hassle. So if you are one of the brave souls that try shelf price and can verify it worked PLEASE let the rest of us know right away and maybe next time you will know in advance too!
Does this clarify shelf vs. sale price?? If not comment below.
